ALICIA G. GUTIERREZ August 12, 1930 - October 24, 2013 Mrs. Alicia G. Gutierrez, 83 years old, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed away unexpectedly on October 24, 2013 at the Baptist Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas, after a brief illness. Alicia, whose full maiden name was Alicia Norma Marta Gonzalez Orfila was born in Laredo,Texas on August 12, 1930 to Mateo Gonzalez and Angela O. de Gonzalez. She was a graduate of Martin High School and worked for many years providing accounting type services to the Laredo Independent School District, with the last several years of her career being spent with the United Independent School District. Alicia was preceded in death by her loving husband of 65 years, Jose R. Gutierrez, by her father, Mateo Gonzalez, by her mother, Angela O. de Gonzalez, by her sisters Maria Antonia Gonzalez de del Valle, Yolanda G. Cadena, Angela G. Hale, and by her grandson, Francisco Javier Juarez. Alicia will forever be deeply missed by her seven children; daughters Sara Alicia Gutierrez-Perez, Diana Laura Gutierrez, Maria Ofelia (Antonio) Medina, Maria Eugenia "Quea" (Emigdio) Lugo, and Olga Irma "Gogi" Gutierrez, and sons Jose R. (Melinda) Gutierrez, Jr. and Carlos Armando (Irasema) Gutierrez. She is also survived by ten grandchildren, being Iliana M. (Anthony) Chandarlis, Alysia Medina, Valentin (Nereyda) Perez III, Diana Laura Perez, Angela Melissa Gutierrez, Estevan Emigdio Lugo, Carlos Armando Gutierrez, Jr., Monica Alicia Gutierrez, Mateo Gabriel Lugo, and Cristian Adan Gutierrez, and four great-grandchildren, namely Valentin Perez IV, Enrique Mauro Perez, Orion George Chandarlis, and Mia Valentina Jimenez. Alicia is also survived by her brother, Mateo (Oralia) Gonzalez, and by her sisters, Rosa (Kenneth)Foresthofel and Olga (Joseph) Hale, by her late husband's sister, Ofelia G. de la Chica, and numerous nephews, nieces, other relatives, and many very special friends including Susan San Miguel, Maria Aurora Garcia, and Manuel Raul Jimenez III. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 28, at the Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels, 1410 Jacaman Road from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary scheduled to begin promptly at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, October 29, 2013 departing from Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels at 8:30 a.m. to St. Patrick Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. Interment will follow in the family plot of the Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Anthony Phillip Chandarlis, Estevan Emigdio Lugo, Mateo Gabriel Lugo, Carlos Armando Gutierrez, Jr., Cristian Adan Gutierrez, and Juan Manuel Canales, Jr. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Mateo Gonzalez, Kenneth Foresthofel, Delfino Alamo, Lucas Galvan, Eddie Perales, Tony Medina, and many more, including the many nephews and nieces that she was so proud of.
