Mrs. Alicia “Dolly” Garcia Valadez, 77, was welcomed to heaven by our Lord on Wednesday, September 11, 2024.
Alicia was a loving person who lived her life devoted to her faith and family. She loved her garden, plants, and flowers. A devoted mother and grandmother, Alicia, treasured the time she spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, as she enjoyed cookouts, dancing and singing with them.
Sacrifice, love, and devotion are the hallmark of an extraordinary individual, and those virtues were certainly exemplified on the life Alicia lived.
Alicia will be remembered as a devoted bus monitor for Laredo Independent School District where she selflessly served the community with kindness and dedication for 15 years.
She sacrificed so many things in her life in order to ensure that her family was well taken care of, without even complaining, because she did it out of love. Through her actions, she taught her family to put God first above all other things and treat others with kindness and respect. Her mother and Father’s legacy remained alive through the countless stories she proudly recounted with love and admiration to the new generations.
Alicia was preceded in death by parents: Oscar Domingo Garcia and Alicia O. Garcia; and siblings, Oscar Domingo Garcia Jr., Gilda Garza.
Left to cherish her memory are her Beloved stepmother Antonia Garcia; children, Dereck (Linda) Soto, and Juan (Rebeca) Soto Jr grandchildren, Rebecca Renee Soto, Dereck Dean Soto Jr, Kimberly Ann Soto, Brandon Lee Soto, and Allan Luther Soto; great-grandchildren, Kendra Marie Gonzalez and Kendrick Matthew Gonzalez, Dereck Shakur Soto, Alizaye Rose Soto, and Allen Luther Soto Jr.; siblings, Dennis Dave Garcia, Brigitte Lynn Grant, Perry Jean Garcia, Barney Dean Garcia, Jacqueline Yvette Santos, Joel Garcia, Jeanette Garcia Paredes, Linda Lizette Agrahari, and Mayra Maritza Martinez.
