Alice Litman Romero, a lifelong resident of Laredo, TX passed away at her home at the age of 100, on Tuesday, March 26, 2024.
Alice graduated from Martin High School in 1942. She was very involved in the Catholic Church. She was a Parish member for many years at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. When Holy Family Catholic Church opened, she began teaching religion classes where she prepared children for their First Holy Communion. She became a Lector and Eucharistic Minister at Holy Family Catholic Church. Alice also participated in the choir on a weekly basis until the age of 94. Alice influenced the lives of countless individuals during her life in many different ways and had a very positive impact by letting Christ work through her.
Family was everything to Alice, she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, mother, sisters & brothers. She also helped raise numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She loved traveling and visiting family as often as she could and getting to visit as many different places as possible. During her visits with family & friends, she was known for always taking as many pictures as possible and always provided copies of those pictures to family & friends. Alice will definitely be missed.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Joaquin Romero Sr., her son Joaquin Romero Jr., Sons in law Ed J. Akers and Jerry Garcia, her parents Steven & Luz P. Litman and Rosalio & Antonia Romero, her brothers and sisters in law, John & Sara Litman, Sophie & Felipe Salazar, Lucy & Nicandro Villarreal, Steven Litman Jr., Gabriel & Mary Litman, Elena Litman, Jesus B. Garcia, Kathy Litman, Ciana & Catalino Vigil, Pat & Josie Romero, Josefina & Jake Garcia, Dan Romero, Helen & Feliciano Herrera, Mary N. Warsaw, Pat Chavez & Joe Romero Sr.
Left to cherish her memory are her children; †Joaquin (Corina) Romero, Mary Ann (†Ed) Akers, Terry (Lester) Letterman, David (Grace) Romero, Mary Susan (†Jerry) Garcia, and Reuben (Elizabeth) Romero. Her Grandchildren; Monica (Nathan) Sheldon, Jacqueline (Mike) Gutierrez, Joaquin (Yvette) Romero III, David (Myrna) Romero Jr., Edward J. Akers, Carlos (Kassy) Romero, Jerry (Samantha) Garcia, Theresa (Joaquin) Zapico III, Amanda (Michael) Porter, Abigail (Ricardo) Romo Jr., Lindsey R. Romero. Her Great- Grand Children; Sophia, Brayden, Michael, Gabriel, Alejandra, Gabriela, Joaquin IV, Esteban, Carolina, Alessandra, Mila, Carlos Jr, Olivia, Ariya, Kortana, Joaquin IV, Elenore and Trey. Her sister, brothers and sisters in law; Jane Litman Garcia, George (Theresa) Litman Sr., Peter Litman Sr., Jesse Litman Sr., Mary Lala Romero, Rita Chavez and Elodia Litman; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
The family will be receiving condolences on Monday evening, April 1, 2024 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels & Cremation Services, 1410 Jacaman Rd.; where a Vigil for the Deceased and Rosary will commence at 6:30 p.m.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Tuesday morning, April 2, 2024 departing at 8:30 a.m. from Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels to Holy Family Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m.
Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the family plot of the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Joaquin Romero III, David Romero Jr., Edward S. Akers, Carlos D. Romero, Jerry R. Garcia & Michael E. Gutierrez.
Honorary Pallbearers will be: David Romero Sr., Reuben Romero, Lester Letterman, Mike Gutierrez, Nathan Sheldon, Joaquin Zapico III, Ricardo Romo Jr., Michael Porter, George Litman Sr., Peter Litman Sr. & Jesse Litman.
The family would like to extend their most heartfelt gratitude to: Her primary care physician, Dr. Garza- Gongora and Altus Hospice.
