Alfredo Meza

January 28, 1932 — April 30, 2011

Alfredo Meza, 79, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 30, 2011, surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. Meza was born and educated in Laredo, Texas. He served his country during the Korean Conflict, 1951-1955. He was a member of the American Legion Post 59, Veterans of Foreign Wars, an Optimist Little League baseball coach and a Blessed Sacrament School basketball coach. His passion was to share his stories of the U.S. Navy and his knowledge of sports with others. Mr. Meza was a man of integrity and full of compassion. He was a hard working man, retired from the Texas Employment Commission after 26 years. He was a man faithful to God and a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish Church and a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be dearly missed.-

He is preceded in death by his parents: Jesus Meza and Isabel Vigger Meza, daughter Laura Jaime Castillo and sisters and brothers: Guadalupe Hastings, Jesus Meza and Benito Meza.

He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years of marriage: Margarita Meza. His sons and daughters: Gloria (Gerardo) Cabrera; Adriana (Francisco) Lopez; Teresa Chapa; Alfredo H. Meza; Margarita (Arturo) Murillo; Ernesto (Nora) Meza; Raquel (Ricardo) Flores. Grandchildren: Marco, Christina, Paul and Catarina Cabrera; (Evan +), Ylsse, Ariane and Ben Lopez; Louie and Alysse Chapa; Jennifer Meza; Johnny Holloway and Arthur Chad Murillo; Ernesto Meza Jr.; Daniela, Sarah, Roberto and Isabella Flores and his great-grandchildren: Sebastian Sarabia and Christopher Louie Chapa. Brothers and sisters: Isabel Morado, Juan Meza, Jose Meza, Maria Gutierrez, Luz DeArkos, Estella Vega, Elena Meister and Rosa Garica.
