ALFONSO HERRERA

Alfonso Herrera, 81, joined our Lord in His heavenly kingdom on Monday, December 12, 2022.
Alfonso “Poncho” Herrera was born in Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico in 1941. Alfonso was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, brother, and friend to those who knew him. He was happily married to Mrs. Angelina Garcia-Herrera for the past 56 years whom he deeply loved and cared for. Alfonso was a hardworking man who loved his family, and wanted the best for his four daughters. He was a proud Dad because all his daughters were 1st generation college graduates who continued on to have successful careers. Poncho loved to BBQ for his family on Sundays listening to the Cadetes de Linares, was an avid baseball fan, and a lifelong fan of the Tecolotes. He was also a handyman around the home never finding a project too complicated. Mr. Herrera was a parishioner of Mother Cabrini Church. He instilled his morale values and beliefs in his family which will live on.
He was preceded in death by his mother Paula M. Herrera, father Luis Herrera; brothers and sisters, Luis Herrera, David Herrera, Juanita N. Martinez, and Olga Orozco.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 56 years Angelina Garcia de Herrera; daughters Patricia (Ricardo) Vera, Myrna (Gabriel) Rodman, Elizabeth (Luis) Lopez, and Jessica (Edwin) Garcia; grandchildren Alfred J. (Anais) Rodman, Daniella Vera, Desireah N. Rodman, Alejandro Vera, Kenneth Rodman, Joshua Lopez, Abigail I. Lopez, and Emma S. Garcia; great grandson John Luke Rodman; brother and sister Carpio Herrera, Petra Herrera, Francisca Ponce, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
The family will be receiving condolences on Thursday evening, December 15, 2022 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels & Cremation Services, 1410 Jacaman Rd.; where a Vigil for the Deceased and Rosary will commence at 7 p.m.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Friday morning, December 16, 2022 departing at 9:30 a.m. from Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels to Mother Cabrini Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m.
Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the family plot of the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Ricardo Vera, Alejandro Vera, Edwin Garcia, Gabriel Rodman, Alfred Rodman, Kenneth Rodman, Luis Lopez, and Joshua Lopez.
Honorary Pallbearers will be: John Luke Rodman and Benjamin Benys.
The family would like to extend their most heartfelt gratitude to: Dr. Luis Benavides and staff, Doctors Hospital, Care Guardian Home Health Agency nurses and therapists, St. Benedict Palomita Services, and Ms. Fatima Medrano.
