Alberto T. Trevio, 81, a loving husband, father, grandfather and proud U.S. Army veteran entered into enteral rest on Sunday morning, Jan. 4, 2014 at Laredo Medical Center. He was born on Aug. 12, 1933 in Alice, Texas to Pedro and Luisa Trevio. He joined the U.S. Army in February 1955 and completed field training with the 10th Infantry Division in Grafenwoehr, Germany. He received his high school diploma in his stead while he was abroad in the Army, and he graduated with the Martin High School Class of 1955. He would often tell stories of his time spent in Germany and seeing parts of it in ruins after World War II. He was honorably discharged February 20, 1963 with ER 54 165 189, Sgt, USAR rank and retired from the Army on Aug. 12, 1993. He was also a Life Member of the National Guard Association of Texas and received the Texas Faithful Service Medal. A devout Catholic, Mr. Trevio faithfully attended Blessed Sacrament Church where he volunteered as an usher. He worked as a glazier, and later, a lineman at Paragon Cable for 28 years before his retirement. At home, he enjoyed working outdoors and spending time with his family. In his final years, Mr. Trevio attended Casa de Nuestra Gente Adult Day Care where he loved to play loteria, draw and go on field trips with his group of friends. Left behind to honor his memory is his loving wife of 57 years Carmen Trevio; children, Javier (Nancy), Maria Luisa, Carmela and Ricardo (Marcela); grandchildren, Saralysia (Hugo) Benavides, Analuisa Pea, Gabriela, Carolina, A. Aaron Juarez and Myles; and great-grandchildren Julyssa, Hugo Ricardo and Ricardo Joel. He is also survived by his brother Pedro Jr. (Ernestina), sister Belia (Felix +) and his nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Javier and Ricardo Trevio, Hugo Benavides, A. Aaron Juarez, Gerardo Inocencio and Pedro Trevio III. Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 7, 2014 at Joe Jackson Heights Funeral Chapels, 719 Loring at Cortez from 5 to 9 in the evening. A Rosary will be held at 6 in the evening. Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 8, 2014 departing the funeral home at 10 a.m. to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be held at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery followed by military honors.
