ALBERTO LONG, SR. APRIL 08, 1929 - NOVEMBER 06, 2015 Alberto Long, Sr., age 86, entered the kingdom of our heavenly father on Friday, November 06, 2015. He is preceded in death by his parents, Gregorio Long and Margarita Jimenez; his brothers, Manuel Chiu Jimenez, Armando Chiu Jimenez, and Rodolfo Chiu Jimenez; as well as by his eldest son, Alberto Long, Jr. Mr. Long is survived by his wife of 60 years, Maria Conchita, and their seven children: Reina Long Villarreal (Angel Villarreal), Alberto Jr. (), (Sissi Long), Henry Long, Rodolfo Long, Dr. Pedro Long, Gregorio Long (Carol Long), and Cynthia Long O'Bryant (Jerry O'Bryant). He is also survived by his thirteen grandchildren: Angel Villarreal Jr., Ciara Villarreal Gonzalez (Victor Gonzalez), Alberto Long III, Cecilia Long, Lauren Long, Krystal Long, Mark Long, Matthew Long, Henry Long Jr., Giselle O'Bryant, Sophia O'Bryant, Jerry Clyde O'Bryant and Leanne Long; one great-grandchild, Jacob Gonzalez; as well as by sisters, Dora Elia Chiu Rodriguez and Rosalinda Chiu Wah (Luis Wah). Alberto J. Long is a veteran of the Korean War, where he served as an Artilleryman for the U.S. Army on the front lines. He was born in San Antonio, TX, but spent much of his early life in Muzquiz, Coahuila, Mexico. His travels took him overseas, across the United States, and throughout Mexico. He met his wife in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, Mexico, and lived in Los Angeles and Dallas before settling in Laredo in 1970. For much of his life in Laredo, Alberto dedicated himself to running a successful business that he and his wife, Maria Conchita, founded. Its success is a testament to his wife's love and support, as well as that of all his children, along with Alberto Sr.'s legendary discipline and work ethic. Along with Maria Conchita, Alberto Sr. took pride in doing things the right way, both in business and in the family. His generosity was well known in the downtown area. Alberto Sr. was quite the dancer. He loved cumbias and boleros. He was also an avid fisherman. Alberto's memory will live eternally in the hearts of his wife and children. The family will receive friends and relatives on Tuesday, November 10, 2015 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels, 1410 Jacaman Rd., where a Vigil for the Deceased and Rosary are scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. Funeral procession will depart the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 to San Agustin Cathedral, 201 San Agustin Ave. for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Rite of Committal and Interment with Military Honors will be rendered after the Mass at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
