Abran Gonzalez Sr., 86, entered the gates of Heaven on Tuesday, August 15, 2017.
Abran lived a very humble and simple life. With limited education, he succeeded in life because of perseverance and determination. As a young man, he worked the fields of migrant life and held jobs as an apprentice locksmith, expert mechanic for Sears Roebuck, Co. and used his God given talent of music to sing and play the guitar in a trio. He then dedicated 34 years of service to the City of Laredo as a firefighter. He dedicated his life for the well-being and happiness of his family. His eyes would gleam anytime he came in contact with first responders and remembered the good times spent at the firehouse. He successfully retired with the rank of captain. He was a parishioner of St. Joseph's Church.
The family of Mr. Gonzalez wish to thank Dr. Ildefonso Flores, Dr. Ricardo Cigarroa, Dr. Flavio Castaneda, Dr. Chalit Wanthakawikran, and the staff of Hope Kidney Dialysis Center for contributing to Mr. Gonzalez's healthcare.
Mr. Gonzalez was preceded to the heavenly kingdom by his wife, Berta C. Gonzalez, his parents, Bernabé Gonzalez and Fernanda Aguilar-Gonzalez, his sisters, Guadalupe (Marvin) Bosenberg and Antonia Gonzalez, his brothers, Manuel Gonzalez and José (Maria) Gonzalez.
Mr. Gonzalez is survived by his sons, Rodolfo (Shari) Gonzalez, Abran Gonzalez Jr., David R. Gonzalez, Alicia (Juan) Madrigal, Norma H. Gonzalez, and Emmanuel (Claudia) Gonzalez; his sister, Juanita (Ramon) Robles; his brother-in-law, Gerardo Cavazos; eleven grandchildren and one great-grandson.
